The National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) is delighted to announce the inaugural winners of the Congressional Excellence in Workforce Award. The winners of each award will be honored during The Forum 2020, powered by NAWB, on July 1st 2020.
There is a longstanding tradition of recognizing excellence within the world of workforce development at the Forum. NAWB believes that it is time that those who provide the resources to make that work possible, Members of Congress, be honored for their dedication to local workforce boards. Since its inception, NAWB has had the pleasure of receiving support from a myriad of Congressmen and Congresswomen willing to go above and beyond to ensure the future and effectiveness of the workforce development system. The “Congressional Excellence in Workforce Award” will be a recurring addition to the Forum award slate as NAWB continues to recognize the champions of the workforce development system.
NAWB has consistently advocated for workforce boards across the U.S. and the Territories. Their work aims to institute changes that will make the work more efficient and more effective, but also for the appropriations necessary to allow the work to happen. As demands for Federal support have risen over the last several years, NAWB has worked more closely with Members who impact those appropriations. This year they have chosen to express our appreciation and honor the work of two of our champions in Congress, Senator Roy Blunt, and Representative Rosa DeLauro. Our system is not a stranger to either as they have worked with local boards in their states and have often been in the nation's American Job Centers to observe first-hand the on-the-ground work we do.
