Workforce Development Board + Community College



The Workforce Board Community College Excellence in Partnership Award is given jointly to a workforce development board and community college that have formed a significant partnership to advance training opportunities for workers in their local region. Workforce development boards and community colleges have a long history of partnering together to strengthen workforce development in their communities. 


The workforce board – community college partnership nomination should reflect some or all of these attributes:


  1. Mission and Goals: Provide detail regarding how the workforce board – community college partnership is an integral part of the mission and goals of the workforce board and the college.
  2. Systematic: Provide information on the development and implementation of a system that formalizes the integration of existing work and experience of each partner to prepare people to return to work as soon as possible.
  3. Collaboration: The workforce board and community college work together to target unemployed or underemployed individuals and provide training offered by the community college and, with the combined resources, place these individuals in jobs, or helped individuals advance.
  4. Scalability: Put into place efforts to scale relevant training that leads to individuals, and employer economic results.
  5. Concrete Impacts: Provide detail on the concrete impacts the workforce board – community college partnership and the plan for sustainability of the partnership and program.
