Leadership Academy, Powered by PCG

A blue and white logo for public consulting group

The Leadership Academy, powered by PCG, is a peer-to-peer professional development opportunity. Opportunities to learn and network with your peers helps directors and board members learn more about their roles and build a network of support. The Leadership Academy is divided into tracks that provide targeted professional development for either new or experienced Directors and new or experienced Board members. The Leadership Academy will kick off on Saturday afternoon with an initial meeting. Academy participants will have a chance to meet each other and facilitators will set the stage by providing a brief presentation targeted to their cohort. Throughout the Forum, facilitators will lead Academy participants in discussions at designated times to explore and digest information, share information and perspectives on the best practices and strategies they heard during The Forum. After The Forum, participants will have opportunities to engage with their cohort and facilitators through an online community. Space is limited so sign up today! If you are already registered for Forum, email nawbforum@nawb.org to join an academy.

Experienced Director

Converting policy to operations and connecting back to refining policy is complicated. The cohort will focus on what is working in workforce policy, what is needed to move from implementing a federal program to fulfilling the real intent in communities and regions, and together thinking through policies and practices that facilitate the future of our work.

New Director

Even for people who have been in the WIOA world can find the role of the Director daunting. The cohort will focus on sharing concerns, challenges and opportunities on building staff, areas where NAWB can be most impactful with technical assistance for professional growth, and some insights into how to govern and lead with a focus on how to build, train and retain a board.

Experienced Board Member

Boards have done extraordinary work for their regions beyond the mandates of WIOA. How does a board begin to discover this work and begin to act on it? The cohort will focus on how to understand the shifting dynamics in workforce and how to bring new visioning and new partnerships to the table.

New Board Member

Every industry has its own jargon and nuances. Two veteran workforce development professionals will help you understand the informational and aspirational aspects of your role, and how you can effectively bring your experience and skills to Board deliberations and contribute to the workforce strategy in your community.
