The Global Economy’s Impact on the Talent Marketplace
The job market has fundamentally shifted across the globe and it is changing how and why individuals work. Through the rise of technology and globalization, competition among workers has become fiercer. The jobs of the future will require a hybrid set of skills from a variety of subject areas that will change several times over during our careers. Knowledge and skills required for specific jobs can now be applied across a broader spectrum of occupations. In addition, workers expect to be able to learn on-demand, getting the skills and knowledge they need in that moment, to be able to apply it as soon as possible. What will the jobs of the future require and how can and should the workforce development system prepare for and respond to the changing dynamics?

Keynote : His Excellency, Jacques Pitteloud, Swiss Ambassador to the United States
Switzerland is recognized as a leader in preparing its citizens for an evolving workplace. Through its partnerships with industry to provide career information, its focus on apprenticeships and ensuring the training all its citizens receive is relevant to the workplace today, the country has the lowest youth unemployment and an economy that is a result of comprehensive and relevant employment. The United States has partnered with the Swiss workforce development system to learn and share what works and how the countries collaborate to build strong personal and country economic growth.
